How Did Rank-It Start?
Before I started building this site I, like probably many of you, spent lots of time building out all sorts of rankings. Whether it was ranking the top 10 NBA players of all time and arguing with friends on the MJ vs. LeBron debate*, or putting out my own NFL rankings each week based on who I thought was playing the best. Whatever rankings you like to do, it is obvious that rankings are an important part of sports.
And yet I did not feel there was an appropriate spot to not only make those rankings, but be able to easily interact with others who were ranking under similar parameters. Before, our options were just writing a Twitter post or trying to write a blog or TikTok with the rankings we wanted to showcase.
That is why I wanted to build Rank-It. I wanted a space to not only be able to create rankings, but more importantly be able to share and interact with others who are building out their own rankings. That way I could see where my rankings compared to the consensus and have all my rankings in one place.
*which I still believe it's hard to compare eras and they both can be the GOAT of their eras.
